Tired and hungry after a hike, we came across this place called Crystal Jade Go. It appeared to be the fast food version of Crystal Jade, that huge chain of restaurants serving Shanghainese cuisine.During afternoon tea time, they had an tea set menu. Lunch set was available for a 12% discount. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. It works just like other fast food restaurants. You order and pay at the cashier. A pager is given to you where it will ring when your order

I had the tea set Chinese burger and two snacks and drink for $32. I chose the pork Chinese burger. My two snacks was a mutton spring roll and pan fried cuttlefish cakes. I upgraded to a soymilk but I wasn't charged for this. I think there must have been a discount? The meat inside the bao was dry. Oh so dry! And oh so bland! The mutton spring roll was oily but at least crispy. The cuttlefish cake was alright. Just tasted like springy flour. I think the best was the soymilk. Maybe due to the fact is was poured straight from a carton of Vitamilk.
Boyfriend had the dim sum lunch set for $42 (but as it was tea time, there was 12% discount). He chose the spicy chicken burger and chive and pork dumplings. This also came with a meat soup and hot drink (with optional cold drink upgrade). His meat patty was at least more flavorful as it was just spicy. The meat was also dry. The dumplings were ok and were the type you get from a frozen bag of dumplings. The meat soup had little fluffy meatballs that were ok.
It definitely wasn't expensive but wow .. was the food horrible. The staff was really friendly. The place was clean. But the food? Definitely won't come again.
