I heard good things about the roast chicken at Chicken Factory. The first time I ate there, I had the Hainan chicken rice but had yet to try the roast chicken. Usually they have a whole chicken deal that is $48. But I didn't want a whole chicken. I wanted a half chicken with a choice of two sides. They have this offer for take away that costs $48 where it's half a roast chicken, choice of two sides (roast potato, oil rice or roasted vegetables) and a drink. As there was no dine in after 6, I go
Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge as this place is take away only.
The food was served in partitioned cardboard container with a wax interior. For my choice of sides, I chose oil rice and roasted vegetables. For the chicken you get a choice of sauce. I had porcini sauce. I thought they would place the sauce separately but they apparently didn't and it was underneath the bird.
The roast chicken was pretty good. Moist and tender. But the sauce was too salty. I think it would have been better if they served it to me separately or may be next time I just request no sauce.
The roast vegetables were really disappointing. Also very salty, it was made up mostly of long green beans. There was on slice of carrot and half a piece of over cooked broccoli. The beans were old and tough. They were extremely hard to chew.
The oil rice was also rather salty. I've had the Hainan chicken before and the rice wasn't that salty. Perhaps it's this branch?
Other than the chicken which was good, everything else was much to be desired. Perhaps it's this branch only? Or perhaps I should just request no sauce?
