Whenever I go to eat Japanese, I usually choose places in Central, Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui. So, when I heard Mong Kok and Japanese, I think ... eh ... no. It's not authentic. It's that strange Hong Kong changed Japanese food or just really scary looking sushi that'll probably get me sick afterwards and I stick with all you can eat.So, what was I doing here? So, what was I doing here? In MK, eating Japanese? Well ... it was simple. A coworker highly recommended it to me.. This coworker only eat Japanese and is extremely picky about what she eats. She informed me this was a true find. On my day off, I went to search for it.
I can't really say if it's hard or easy to find. I walked by it twice until I found the door. It's located on Nathan Road but the actual door to the building is behind Chow Tai Fook.
The restaurant was nicely decorated in light wood and lots of bright light. There is a sushi bar on one side. As I decided to try their lunch first, there was a fair amount of people dining. Making me feel less worried.
During lunch session, I was presented with a lunch menu. Menu is in English and Chinese. I decided to go with the assorted sushi set for $158.
Ok. Let the food begin.
Each lunch set comes with a miso soup, salad, appetizer and chawanmushi.
The appetizer was a miso braised mackerel served with a cucumber. The dish was delicious. The fish was delicate and was slightly sweetened by the miso.
