We had a wonderful time celebrating my friend's birthday at Pica Pica. The service was excellent - attentive and sincere. They offered us purse hooks for our bags, which was a nice thoughtful touch and I don't think I've ever been offered a purse hook in any other restaurant in Hong Kong before (I've had other things to place my bag, but never a purse hook). Food was delicious and portions were generous for the price. There was not a single dish that we found unsatisfactory. The staff were professional and patient with our requests to ensure that certain dishes were completely vegetarian, whether that meant double-checking with the kitchen, or serving the meat elements on the side. Our tables were always cleared promptly, and we were given a gentle heads up whenever our main dishes were about to be served. The staff would also refrain from mixing a dish before we took a photo, which again showed the attention to detail in their service.
When it was time for desserts, the staff sang Happy Birthday enthusiastically for the birthday girl, and the desserts had a beautifully written Happy Birthday lettering on the plate - I've had and been to enough birthday meals to know that unfortunately, the lettering can sometimes look worse than a 5 year old's handwriting. Thankfully this was not the case at Pica Pica. What's more, I was pleasantly surprised that they not only took a polaroid for us, but also included a handwritten and handdrawn card to go with it. That was definitely another first for me.
I would like to say a big thank you to Aiza and Misa for taking such good care of us during our meal. The food was excellent, but it was the service of the staff that elevated our experience to the next level.
