When you’re visiting a place as luxurious as the Murray Hotel, you would expect a same level of comfort from their roof top restaurant. Luckily, Popinjays did not disappoint. A contemporary display of furniture and decor, with a 180 side view of the city landscapes was the perfect way to treat your Friday afternoon! 🏙🌆🌟Cassia Afternoon TeaThe Cassia Afternoon Tea was inspired by the full blooms in spring, their presentation of the tea set was well balanced between sophistication and grace. 🌟Cassia Afternoon Tea
The Cassia Afternoon Tea was inspired by the full blooms in spring, their presentation of the tea set was well balanced between sophistication and grace. The use of color palettes also complimented their spring blossom theme, where dashes of pink and green tones danced across each plate. 💖💚
It’s ashamed their flavour profile was unable to live up to their visual experience. The flavour combinations and ingredient usage seemed forceful, not to mention a weak linkage with the theme. I would had expected a wider range of fruits as well as floral tones. 🌸❓
Pairings such as cocktail shrimp with mousse cup or sweet peas tart with cream cheese did not sound appetising and their tastes were surely no different. 🦐🍮
Savoury dishes aside, the desserts did not live up to expectations either. Although presentations and outlooks were extravagant, sponge cakes were plain dry and custard creams were simply an explosion of sweetness. As a person who works with cakes and desserts on a daily basis, I would had loved delicacies that contain layers and a flavor journey. In reality, the only journey I received was a downhill experience🙅🏻♀️⬇️
That said, my disappointing high tea story does not imply that the restaurant is not worth visiting. With their ‘instagramable’ views and high quality service, perhaps trying their buffets or breakfast sets are a wiser option🫣👀
