Fridge is one of those hidden gems in the Hong Kong's restaurant landscape, a small little space tucked away on Peel Street, Central that may be a little difficult to find if it's your first visit. I have been introduced to Fridge by a friend and has fallen in love with it since my first visit. The restaurant is quite small (if you book out the whole restaurant, it could seat up to around 12 people), because seats are so limited, it's better that you call and make a reservations before going i
Fridge specialized in oysters (on half shells served fresh) and they offers a great selection of oysters throughout the year based on whatever is in season - Gillardeaus, Pinky, Irish Rock, Fine De Claire, Belon...... and they are ALWAYS fresh and tasty! Oyster lovers would agree that such consistency in quality is probably the most important for any oyster restaurants! There is of course a good selection of white wine, and while I'm no wine expert, I tend to get recommendations from their staff who is always helpful with picking a wine of our choice. Apart from oysters, they also offer a small menu consisting of 1-2 options of appetizers, soup, pasta, meat dish, and dessert and they are also impressively delicious! Their steak and lamb chop is nicely done but it is the Pasta Alioli that has become an all-time favourite! Perfectly seasoned with a perfect kick, it is a must-try! Portion is quite generous as well so if you've had a few oysters to start, you may choose to share the pasta with a friend so you can leave room for desserts! It is extremely rare that any restaurant could hit the right notes from starters to desserts and Fridge has a kitchen that seems to know how to do it all!
As you can tell, i only have great things to say about this restaurant as it has certainly become a personal favourite. My only complaint would be that it can sometimes be difficult to get a booking as there are only limited tables....but I guess its small intimate setting is one of Fridge's biggest charm!
