Yum cha is an integral part of Chinese family life in Hong Kong, and this place is where the regulars come from the 'hood or afar for a casual weekend lunch. Elderly couples, families with kids, aunts and uncles and extended relatives, they all show up at the expected time and make a beeline for their usual table. Although the two of us were seated at the back, service was attentive and prompt, with the staff diligently patrolling the tables to make sure all extra dishes are removed, the pots are filled, and always on the lookout for that quick wave of hand or eye contact from the customers. Nothing counts more than experience in the F&B service industry.

We wanted to order more but could only manage 4 dim sums and 2 desserts. The char siu bao were hot and fluffy with chunky bits of pork inside, the har gao had nice fresh prawns in them (they are a seafood restaurant after all, I won't expect anything less from them), and the skin was of the right thickness though just a touch doughy. The shrimp and spring onion cheung fun was a much larger plate than I had expected, with a glistening touch of oil on the surface of the evenly rolled rice noodles. Finally the XO sauce stir fried turnip cakes were tasty, but there wasn't much ingredients in the turnip cake itself.

For desserts we ordered our own favourites: his mango pudding and my osmanthus jelly. Both were cooling and a the right consistency and firmness to it. The osmanthus jelly had a layer of coconut underneath for added flavour.

Their noodles and rice dishes are competitively priced at around $48, large enough for a family of 4-6. They also have special priced dim sums at $10.8. This will surely be one of our neighbourhood favourites from now on.
