Came here for my friend's birthday as it was her choice. I've been here before but it was 5 years ago and it was for the giant monster hamburger they serve just so I could get weird photos of eating a hamburger bigger than my head. So, when my friend chose this place for her birthday celebration, boyfriend was psyched so he could also take weird photos of himself eating a hamburger bigger than his head. The location of the place is inside the Langham Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. This got most of my friends confused as they only know Langham Place in Mong Gok. So, a few of them had to ask for directions. And once inside the hotel, there's a dark staircase leading to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is dated in decor with glitzy chandeliers and I guess a main street NYC feel? I don't know.
While the few of us who knew where it was located and wasn't lost, we shared the pickles and coleslaw that was offered to us for free and ordered drinks. The pickles were not really crunchy. The coleslaw was ok. Ordering of drinks was a bit annoying. It seemed the menu wasn't updated as a few of my friends wanted certain drinks and the waitress said it wasn't available. Not like one drink but several.
I ordered the cookies and cream milkshake. Loved that the cup was cold. Though my friend's was so cold it was still ice particles on the outside. It was thick. Though not enough cookie. I had a sip of boyfriend's pina colada milkshake and had rum inside! Spiked milkshakes! Had no idea!
Onion rings were big. Crunchy outside but the onions were kinda of soggy.
Buffalo wings were ok. Though weren't really wings but more like drumlets. But tasty enough.
We decided to order a salad, two pizzas, three burgers and two pasta dishes to share.First was the Main St. Deli seafood salad. Salad greens were crunchy with a few bits of salmon here and there. It was ok.
We requested our burgers to be medium rare and it was medium rare. We orderd blue ribbon beef burger, barbeque bacon burger and monster beef burger. Boyfriend and I shared the blue ribbon beef burger nad barbeque bacon burger. What I didn't understand was how come the lettuce, tomatoes even the bacon was put on the side? How come it wasn't put inside the burger? Strange indeed. But at least the burgers were good. One complaint was I couldn't find any cheese in mine even though it said it had cheese. Fries were good and crunchy.
Grand Central pasta was a penne pasta with seafood. Again....do my friends really like seafood, I wonder? Anyways ... the pasta was pretty good though the seafood was so over cooked, it was rubbery.
Mulberry Street pizza was really good. The crust was crispy and thin. The toppings yummy. Loved this pizza combination.
This is the Union Square pizza. Salmon on top. I'm not a fan of salmon on top of pizza....I think it's disgusting and giving it a taste, I reconfirmed to myself that it was indeed disgusting.
Beef lasagna was good but rich. It was just all meat and I think only a minimal amount of pasta. Boyfriend remarked the meat tasted like the burger meat ... it probably is.
We shared a slice of lemon merigue pie with the birthday girl. I didn't take a photo as it was being sliced into. But it was a huge slice....I don't understand the concept of "American sizes"....I've been to America. I'm from Canada and we eat huge portions, too, but never in my life have I seen a slice of pie the size of your head. Huge as it was, the pie was bad. The crust was hard. Like so hard, one of my friends stabbed it with her fork and it didn't budge. The lemon was tart enough and was just this hard lump of pudding. This wasn't good lemon meringue pie.Yeah .... won't return for over priced burgers. There are better places.
