I have been trying to get a spot to eat here for ages! Finally got a place for Fathers Day Dinner. We were seated in the back room near the kitchen, although it is private and spacious the air conditioning and air flow is unacceptable. I was almost sweating the whole night and it slightly ruined my dining experience. I was almost sweating the whole night and it slightly ruined my dining experience. Moreover, on a hot sticky night to get into the main entrance of the restaurant you need to walk outside the hotel to get to the main elevator. The air conditioning needs an upgrade or they should turn it up.
We had a bit of trouble getting hold of a waiter to make our order as your hidden away in the back of a dark room in a cubicle. This is unacceptable for a restaurant of this reputation and price!
Eventually, we made our order for 3 persons, 2 adults & 1 child, and added a glass of Pinot noir for Daddy!
Complimentary garlic bread arrived shorty after our order, they were hot straight out of the oven and very buttery with a medium garlic flavor. You can also get a free unlimited refill.
The first of our appetizers, the Maryland Crab Cakes arrived first, nicely presented crispy on the outside but overly mushy on the inside, which is a sign of too much filler. Despite this, there was a lot of crab meat which went well with the remoulade or tartar sauce. It was not worth $360 from my point of view cause it was mushy and wet. Our second appetizer was the Thick Cut Bacon glazed with bourbon and maple and garnished pickled jalapeños peppers, now this dish was impressive, the salted deep bacon flavor was heaven and when eaten with the jalapeños tickled all taste buds! This dish was definitely worth the $150.
Next to arrive were the soups, where we requested a refill of that lovely garlic bread at this stage. The French Onion soup was dense and packed with caramelized onions and cheese, with brandy added it gave the soup a real depth of aftertaste. The lobster bisque had several chucks of lobster and cooked with cognac which again gave this soup depth of flavor and added a bit of elegance to it. As the sizes of the soups were massive we were almost full before our mains had arrived. The waiter did advise us to split 2 soups between us instead of ordering 3, but we thought we would be ok having only ordered 2 mains.
The mains were all served on a massive sharing platter board, we ordered the signature 20oz or 575g USDA Prime Rib eye cooked medium to share, and the Steakhouse Burger, which consisted of a Wagyu beef patty, bacon, cheddar, tomato and lettuce with fries. In addition, we ordered another side of truffle fries with parmesan cheese and mashed potato’s. The rib eye steak was magnificent, it was cooked a perfect medium with a nice charr on the outside which didn’t overpower the beef flavor. The beef taste from the USDA Prime meat was strong and rich, the beef was tender and seasoned perfectly, we didn’t need to add salt or pepper. Definitely an expensive cut of meat! The Steakhouse burger for our kid, the patty was cooked medium and was tender and juicy, apart from this it was nothing special, not worth $360 in our view. The french fries and the truffle French fries were nice, but the mashed potato was excellent, creamy, soft and buttery.
Overall, the food is good here and it better be for the price you pay, service was mediocre but the restaurant comfort level was unacceptable being too hot with poor airflow which partly ruined my dining experience, this was made worst since you also need to wear formal attire which makes it harder for you to cool down.
