I had high hopes for this restaurant, particularly given the very high price point. However, from the uninspired food presentation, to the lackluster service, to the poor restaurant ambience, I was thoroughly let down.As soon as we were seated, the hope for a relaxing and quiet evening was dashed. As soon as we were seated, the hope for a relaxing and quiet evening was dashed. As a party of 2, we were seated at the bar table. Behind us was a table for 4, and to our right was a table of 2 (also at the bar table) – the problem was that they were one big party and were “split” given the seating limitation of the restaurant. The resulting constant back and forth of shouting, walking, passing of food ensued throughout the night.
The service also left much to be desired. There were two servers (a senior and a junior), and while the restaurant was not full, they were very reactive, rather than proactive as you would expect from a restaurant which holds itself out to be a fine dining restaurant. The senior was professional but rather curt, while the junior just did not seem interested. Everything outside of the standard service routine was an effort. For example, our hot sake was given to us without a warmer initially (ie just the bottle), and only after requesting this did they begrudgingly provide it to us. Our green tea was also rarely refilled, had to repeatedly request this. Overall, the service was not to Japanese hospitality standards which we had expected, so set your expectations accordingly.

You can make your own judgment on how appealing this looks!] To the food itself, most of the dishes were pre-plated. I would describe the quality of the food on par with a Japanese airline premium cabin, combined with the service of a local carrier.
[Appetizers – Saba sushi, vegetable dish, ebi, abalone.] This dish honestly felt like airline food. The portions were small, the food itself was frigid and showed no input from the chef, instead simply pulled out of the fridge. You would have expected the chef could have prepared this fresh in front of you especially given the counter top setting, especially given the price we paid. In fact the counter top in front of us was used to stack plates the entire meal!
[Sashimi] No different to the above. The crab sashimi was good but the rest you can find in Sen-Ryo.
[Fish intestines] This dish was not very appetizing.
[Seared crab legs] Finally we get to try a proper crab dish. The crab leg was meaty but again I failed to taste the freshness of the crab meat.
[Tempura crab legs] Batter was slightly on the heavier side and lacked that golden texture you find with good tempura.
[Cold crab] Perhaps one of the dishes that was more appropriate for all the pre-plating because they actually removed the meat from the shell for you. Taste was fine, if not slightly on the dry side.
[Crab hot pot] The hot pot was served like this. Of all the dishes, they could have let us cook it ourselves! When asked if everything was cooked, they said yes, which meant that a mad scramble to dig everything out and turn down the gas ensued to avoid everything from turning into rubber! The food itself was fine but the whole process of trying to chow everything down sort of ruined the experience.
[Crab rice with uni and ikura] This dish certainly had the wow factor but the taste was like fried rice with meat. The ikura was nice but the crab meat didn’t taste like crab meat because it was way overcooked. It was a nice touch for them to serve the rice on the crab shell itself but the amount of rice was overwhelming and detracted from the rest of the crab meat.]
Overall, I felt quite disappointed with this restaurant, which is perhaps no surprise by now. As others have already mentioned, given the price we paid, we felt we got very little value. Nothing was cooked in front of you and service was a big let down. The restaurant seriously needs to rethink its menu strategy and reconsider its focus. Will not return.
