Yes I work in Taikoo Place, and it's sad that there was absolutely no good stable espresso in the area. While the milk drinks of Epoch is almost top class in HK standard, their Espresso is never stable enough, let alone good.So, when I saw a shiny new coffee machine and grinder in this newly open shop with green coffee bag decorations and espresso on the menu, although they look more like a vegetarian restaurant than a respectable coffee shop, i decided to give them a go, you cant judge anythin

As usual, I ordered an espresso. the lady (I take her as the boss) was very happy because, she said, I'm the first customer who order an espresso, and I could give them some opinion on it. Indication of potentially good things as they are WILLING TO LISTEN! In no more than 2 mins, my coffee arrived. Honestly it didnt look that great, good color crema but it isnt thick. the volume is marginly touching the upper limit of an acceptable espresso, while the taste is a bit flat and not punchy enough(to my taste, you know), but clearly this espresso is carefully prepared. I talked to the lady about this and she asked the barista to talk with me directly - yes she actually said barista - then i know they are taking their coffee seriously.
After exchanging some thoughts, the barista whose name was Ben poured me another shot in a shot glass, and that really is a handsome shot, you know, crema over 1/2 of the shot glass. because Ben told me that it's the cut short type ristretto he gave me. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind espresso with very mild body and little crema, like i said in the review of "soulmate coffee", I savour the taste more.
The espresso here is kinda extreme in a sense, I couldn't understand it, not until i know the blending from somebody else(now I need some milk drinks to confirm my theory), but then, it's a very very drinkable espresso. I cant say i like it but it should be what the barista want. You know, coffee taste is a very personal thing, right?
3-3.5 on a scale of 5, just the espresso.
