Though I love coffee, I also love tea. And Hong Kong has a plethora of them throughout the city. But Flamingo Bloom is a bit different in that it takes the usual teas and makes it more fun. More young. And yes, brought in the whole flamingo floatie craze that has hit our city of late. The first shop is in Central and I'm pretty much a regular whenever I walk by. The first shop is in Central and I'm pretty much a regular whenever I walk by. So, much to my surprise while I was in Tsim Sha Tsui, I found they had expanded to Kowloon. The shop here is a lot bigger than the Central branch. It seems less cramped. Design is exactly the same as their Central branch. Complete with the huge flamingo floatie in the front.
Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. They offer four base teas; chrysanthemum pu'er, honey orchid black, jasmine tips green and highland oolong. You can then choose the different fruit combos, add boba or even a salted milk cap. Hot or cold. Whatever your pleasure. The choices are astounding.
But something that is served here and not in the Central branch is food. They have grilled cheese toasties, bubble waffle ice cream and a sundae melon bowl. I guess here you can have something more than just a drink.
I also noticed they are selling Christmas hampers for Christmas. This was a bit surprising to me but I guess definitely different if you are thinking of gifts. Prices are $499, $799 and $1099 depending on what's in the hamper. But you do get a pretty nice bag, flamingo floaties, gift vouchers and tea leaves in all the different hampers.
I ordered a salted milk cap with smashed strawberries and jasmine tips green tea ($43). Haha...had to grab a floatie to take a photo. Sweet with the strawberries. Some may think it was too sweet but it was nicely balanced by the salty milk cap.
Boyfriend had the pink grapefruit with highland oolong ($36). This was even better. You can really taste the fragrance of the tea. The addition of grapefruit was completely infused in the tea as well. A refreshing combination.
We decided to try a bubble waffle with ice cream. One scoop is $39, two scoops for $49. There are four flavors to choose from: cookies and cream, chocolate latte, strawberry fields and bitter sweet matcha. We chose chocolate latte and strawberry fields. It come with two strawberry Pocky sticks and some chocolate powder sprinkled on top. The bubble waffles were more cake-like. If you like that, then this is for you. I, however, prefer mine a bit more crispier with soft cakey center. The ice cream was smooth and creamy. The chocolate was the better of the two we chose.
It's nice that Flamingo Bloom has opened in Tsim Sha Tsui as it gives me more of an option to sit down and have a drink that doesn't involve coffee. Love the teas. Next time I'm back, may try the grilled cheese toasties.
