Our boss decided to treat us for dinner to reward us for our excellent work last year. Since it was winter season now and having hotpot was the norm, he suggested to have dinner at dining house. Dining House was located inside Dorsett Wanchai Hotel, and served chinese cuisine, dim sum and hotpot. For their hotpot soup base, they offered several flavours, non-spicy and spicy. For their hotpot soup base, they offered several flavours, non-spicy and spicy. Besides that, we could order meat, dumplings, vegetables and noodles etc. Given that it was located inside the hotel, their pricing was very reasonable.
Shortly after we have ordered, they placed a huge tray of seasonings on the table for us to mix and match for our own seasoning.
Spicy soup with seafood - This hotpot was to be eaten 2 ways. After we have finished those seafood inside the dry hotpot, the waiter will pour soup into the pot for us to continue with our hotpot. There were prawns, clams, mussels and seasoning etc in the pot. It was cooked till very flavourful and fragrant. Seafood were juicy and chewy, able to taste the freshness.
After we have finished our seafood pot, we ordered few hotpot dishes.
Homemade mashed shrimp - It was freshly home made and there were crab roe on paste of the prawn paste. It just took a while for it to be cooked and it was very juicy and chewy.
Fresh drunken chicken - Chicken was cooked till soft and smooth, juicy as well. It has slight cooking wine taste as well.
Vegetables absorbed the essence of the hotpot, thus it was slightly spicy and juicy as well.
Udon - The texture was of flat type rather than round type. It was very chewy and smooth, like biting chewing gum.
