The restaurant is quite nice with a few booths for more privacy. However, when i arrived with my friend they took us to the back of the restaurant where they seated everyone and directed us to a table. We had booked well in advance and specifically requested a booth. The waiter then shugged his shoulders and said ok you can sit in this booth for now. We ordered the 2-person seafood set at $368 + 10% and waited and waited....... 15 mins and our tiny portion of salad had not arrived. The salad came and the waiter switched on the grill to the highest setting and waited for another 10 mins (were we expected to grill our own bodies - it certainly felt like it). Finally the food for grilling came; oysters, prawns, scallops, pork, beef, chicken and veggies as well as rice. The quality and quantity was fine. As I had came there before (service was so-so but not as slow as today) I knew there was steamed egg, tofu and miso soup that should have come with the starter. I asked the waitress and she said 'what did you order?'. Duh the seafood is right in front of you! She said she would check. After cooking most of the food and not seeing any waiter for ages. I finally got up and walked to the reception and asked where the rest of our food was. The waiter said oh, it's coming, we are waiting for the egg to be steamed. It came about 5 mins later with an extremely salty miso soup (by this time we were too tired to complain).
We asked for the dessert (not much but should be a mochi ice-cream) but the waiter said no dessert and there is soda instead. They should have told us this earlier so we could have had time to drink it. But by this time we were late and rushing to get back to work and just asked for the bill. Normally I will give a few dollars tip but this time I really wanted to tell them not to add the service charge as there was hardly any service. I wouldn't say the service attitude was necessarily bad but the management should take a look at the staffing level (I'm sure the kitchen only had skeleton staff) and provide some training. Food should be well prepared beforehand - there is hardly any cooking to be done.
It's a shame as it's a nice place to meet up.
