Heard good things so went there for a late lunch today. Ordered the set menu pork rice w/egg with milk tea. It was priced at $39, which seems like a good value. Before I get into the food, I should mention that the staff seemed to be in a good mood as many were laughing and smiling. Unfortunately, they were laughing and smiling amongst themselves while ignoring the customers and it took some effort to flag down someone to take my order. The food came very fast. The food came very fast. I soon discovered why. The fried egg was barely cooked. I would say half of the egg white was still translucent. The pork was cold (not room temperature - cold). The rice was wet and mushy (steamed with too much water). The staff was back entertaining themselves in the corner and I decided to ditch this terrible meal after three bites. I grabbed my bill, paid and went around the corner for a bowl of wanton noodle soup.
Perhaps when done right, the pork rice is a fine dish, but the half-hearted effort from the staff left me cold and with so many options in HK, I won't be going back to Hokkaido Dairy.
