I was there to celebrate my mum's birthday. However, I discovered that food quality has deteriorated. I suspect that the chef was changed since the food wasn't as good as before. Service leaves much room to be desired. For example, after serving steak, they did not offer mustard at all, not until we asked them. I was there to celebrate my mum's birthday. However, I discovered that food quality has deteriorated. I suspect that the chef was changed since the food wasn't as good as before.

Service leaves much room to be desired. For example, after serving steak, they did not offer mustard at all, not until we asked them. Even after we requested, they did not offer any choice of mustard. They simply put down French style mustard and assumed this is what we wanted.

I have the following observations:-

1. For main course, they were not able to control media rare / medium well, turned out the steak was either too raw or overcooked. My mum ordered medium well and I ordered medium rare, but her steak turned out to be more raw than mine. Furthermore, the taste of the steak wasn't as good as before.

2. Throughout the whole night, they did not ask if we were satisfied with the food. They did not refill water frequently, my glass was always empty throughout the night.

3. We were carrying a lot of stuff, but they did not offer to help store our bags in cloak room, not until we were seated and asked by ourselves.

4. Before starters were served, when we had finished our bread, they did not ask if we wanted more, again we had to ask by ourselves.

5. Dessert was just so so. Not up to a 5-star hotel standard.

6. The presentation of Petit fours at the end was not as elegant as before. They simply served it on an ordinary plate like Costco or Tesco platter.

7. We also discovered that the inner coating of tea pot had seriously peeled off.

Conclusion: Quite disappointing. Not sth that we expect from a so called 5-star hotel like The Peninsula.
