I won a couple of complimentary Pret's Hot Breakfasts some time ago. I've already tried the Rich Tomato Macaroni (sorry it's a review in Chinese : http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2072167), now I've come to try the other set, Organic Porridge. The IFC branch is similar in size to (maybe a bit smaller than) the Taikoo Place branch, but is always packed. I went just in time to catch the last tide of breakfast (I think they stop offering breakfast at 11 am) and could find a seat pretty easily. My complimentary breakfast was a Combo (original price $30) of Organic Porridge ($18 a la carte) plus a drink (filter coffee/tea/orange juice). The Pret staff would add milk to the oats in your bowl after you'd paid at the till. The porridge came with a choice of blueberry compote or honey and I chose the former.
I think the porridge was pretty good as it was smooth, rich & gooey (much to do with the milk) and the oats were tender (hmm...good for some gentle bowel cleansing...). The blueberry compote provided a tinge of cute purplish colour and the right amount of sweetness.
However to my suprise the coffee was just so-so as Pret coffees are usually quite up to standard. The one I had was a bit on the acidic side and perhaps a little too milky for my liking (strange, but I liked the milky porridge!).
Thanks to its prime location this Pret is always busy and popular among "mobile" office workers (free Wi-fi in store), and offers a warm welcome to travellers arriving in HK too!
