I knew Jamie Oliver as a celebrity better than Gordan Ramsey. I heard a lot of reviews or news about these two UK chef, and sounds like they are arch rivals. While I have really bad experience in Jamie's Italian, I picked this London House for my friend's birthday dinner. It was a Saturday and at 6pm, we could still enjoy happy hour. We tried all the house red wine/while wine and they were all unbelievably good, not compromised by the happy hour promotion. We ordered:Sausage roll, spicy mayo
It was a Saturday and at 6pm, we could still enjoy happy hour. We tried all the house red wine/while wine and they were all unbelievably good, not compromised by the happy hour promotion.
We ordered:
Sausage roll, spicy mayo - good pastry, the sausage was just in good balance taste, not too salty or oily. The spicy mayo was spicy enough but not too strong to scare you off, good.
Potted crab, seaweed toast - surprisingly good dish. The crab was abundant, with a tiny bit of oceanic salty taste, with add more seafood taste and freshness feeling.
Caesar salad - good salad, not only with lots of bacon, cheese, but also with egg.
Fish and chips - Signature dish - good fish with nice beer flavour over the flour.
Bangar and mash - the onion sauce was salty with tiny bit of sweetness (cooked onion is sweet - therefore the name caramelised onion) but was good for me as I like food with stronger taste
Chicken tikka masala, saffron rice - the curry was just in good balance with both spicy and fragrance in well balanced.
Irish coffee - we chatted with a very nice and friendly Italian waiter. We asked for extra alcohol and here was what we got, very strong alcohol, with crispy coffee beans on top. Good.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner very much, both from the good food and the nice service.
Although Dining Concept's share price is horrible, the restaurant is definitely running by good management, unlike the Jamie's Ita???? restaurant with is totally hopeless (run by amateur).
