Home-made beef patties mixed with onion, and I believe the beef is tenderized. Cheese seemed like some type of cheddar and was well-melted. Bun was toasted perfectly, the lettuce and tomato fresh and juicy.The beef patty itself is very soft and nearly American sausage-like; at the same time, it retains most of the beef flavor and doesn't taste over-seasoned, or as if it's been mixed with too many bread crumbs and eggs etc. Loved the very slight bbq sauce taste, mixed with light pickled relish. Was not over-powering, and truly gave the burger a special taste without being too strong.
That Sunday a regular burger was only $20HKD!! The cheeseburger I bought was only $30!! At those prices and with the fresh and unique quality, this is sure to be one of my new favorite burger haunts.
The wait was about 15 minutes. There were at least 5 customers in front of me, and it was only a small one-man kitchen. Seems like the owner and a nice, friendly local guy. Compared to the wait-time at the other two local burger joints, here it was on average the same. For that many customers, the quality and "cook-to-order" method, it was well worth the wait.
Only thing I would do differently if I was the owner, would be to set up the ordering window differently. I would utilize the window facing the street for order pickup. No biggie at all though.
I would definitely recommend any true and dedicated burger-connoisseur to give this place a try. Two thumbs up from me. Best all around value/taste in my book since Archie B's closed down.
