I live at No. 1 Queen St. So does this restaurant. In a way, I feel we are connected. In a very literal way.

[Note: Don't listen to openrice's designation: it's not on Queen's road, and it's about 2-3 blocks away from 1 Queen's Road W. It's in the Queen St. cooked food center, 1 Queen's STREET.]

Notably, there was pork on the menu. I'm not a religious expert, but one doesn't often find pork in Indian food, so (as I said) that's notable.

The meal came with pappadums and mint chutney (not pictured). There were only three pappadums (below par). The chutney was spicy (good!), but it was a small amount, especially given that the samosas didn't have any chutney and we had to extend it to them.

I always have to get samosas, even when it's a bad idea and it ruins my apetite (including in this instance). These ones are pretty good. You get 3 per order (we only really wanted two). They're a little mushy on the inside but not textureless. They even had nuts in them. Surprisingly, I thought they could have used some salt. Still, pretty good: B.

A kadai is just an Indian-style wok, so "lamb kadai" doesn't say much. Still, it usually indicates lots of onions and peppers, which is what this came with. I was fairly happy with it. Compared to Chungking mansions I think this dish was pretty amazing. In an absolute sense, I found it a little on the sweet side. Good, but not amazing: B.
Garlic Naan

I'm used to naan being covered in grease, and garlic naan being smothered with garlic. The garlic naan here is toned down. That doesn't make it bad: in fact, it seemed to serve all the purposes of naan, while still being (or seeming) healthy. I'm mixed here: above average: C+.
Chicken Sekuwa

Finally we had the Sekuwa chicken. This was on the "Nepalese specials" part of the menu. It's a roast meat with spices, not unlike tandoori stuff. It's not cooked in a tandoori, but rather more like a shishkebab. It's traditionally rubbed with a spice paste, and in this case it was pretty spicy on some parts and almost not spicy/ flavored on others. On the whole the meat was tender, mildly smoky, and between no to high-medium spice levels. I will also give this a B.
Godfather

There were lots of advertisements at the restaurant for Godfather beer, and that was their "Indian Beer." I don't know how much you know about Indian beer, but usually it's very high alcohol content stuff that you're supposed to drink a small amount of. Godfather's top selling beer is 7.5%. This stuff is the main export, and it's more like 5%. The thing is, it still tastes overly sweet like the high-alcohol versions. I definitely would have preferred even a Carlsberg (!!!) and that's saying alot.

In conclusion, I liked this place. All the food was good and the beer wasn't terrible (but wasn't good either). Would I come back? Yes, I'm not sure I'm technically not back, given that we have the same address. B, good.
