For some reason, Happy Valley has a number of Vietnamese restaurants. The latest one that opened is Banh Mi Pate. The restaurant isn't very big so as I couldnt find a seat, I decided to just order take away to eat at home. The menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. During lunch time they have a special menu that offers a discount on drinks.I decided to order something from the lunch menu and added $15 for a lemongrass, mint, dried plum lime soda. The drink was refreshing.

I decided to order something from the lunch menu and added $15 for a lemongrass, mint, dried plum lime soda. The drink was refreshing. Sour and sweet with a heavy taste of mint.
My order was a bun cha ($78). The noodles and toppings were served separately.
Putting everything together, it tasted quite good. The vermicelli noodles were springy. The meatballs were wondefully seasoned. The grilled pork was a bit dry but well seasoned. The crunchy pickles gave the savory taste a bit of sourness to balance it out. This was quite good.
The food was quite good but the service needed a bit of work. I know they were busy but I think I stood there waiting to order while I was ignored while they served other people. Not sure if they were busy and this happened but they didn't really apologize for the wait. And then they didn't even make my order until they served everyone else after me. Would probably return as it might have been they were super busy. But it did need improvement and hopefully won't happen again.
