After hiking the Dragon's Back, we stopped at Eric's Kitchen. There're some other restaurants around, but none of them are situated on the beach like Eric's. The food here is very Hong Kong. Take the cheeseburger, for instance. It had an overseasoned patty that wasn't really meaty and "whole," but rather was crumbling while I ate it. A burger shouldn't crumble, but in HK, burgers regularly crumble. And there was way too much salt in it. I won't say "not recommended," because, well, what else are you gonna get? But this isn't all that great. OK, C-.

As a side note, the burger comes with fries. The fries (like the next two dishes below) are the frozen variety. However, frozen does not mean bad, and often frozen, partially pre-cooked fries are better than poorly-prepared, poorly-cooked fresh fries. I thought these ones were fine. OK, C+

How do you ruin deep-fried dumplings? The answer is that you don't, it's impossible. However, you can make sub-par deep-fried dumplings, and Eric's does. Not as crispy as they should be and not all that flavorful in the filling. OK, C

The spring rolls were the best thing we got. Minor complaint: they could have profited from a greater veggie-to-wrapper ratio. Good, B+

As I said, the food here is very Hong Kong. They have that terrible HK cracker pizza ("thin crust" they say, "yeah right" I say). They have those flat triangle "samosas" filled with curry paste. The beers are pretty cheap, they've got Coronas with lime wedges, and nothing beats sitting out by the water. Would I eat here again? Yes. Would I have high expectations about it? No. All-in-all, rather good for what it is. B
