In a nondescript, slightly run-down factory/warehouse building near Lai Chi Kok station is a half-hidden selection of restaurants, including The Americano, a laid-back burger joint. We visited after work on a Monday evening, when it was fairly quiet, although it had filled up somewhat by the time we left.We started with fried cheesy balls and a caesar salad - the cheesy balls were slightly sweeter than we might have expected, but nice for a good starter, and the salad was fresh
We started with fried cheesy balls and a caesar salad - the cheesy balls were slightly sweeter than we might have expected, but nice for a good starter, and the salad was fresh and crunchy, and big enough to share. I had a Beyond burger, while my partner had a foie gras burger. I'm generally a fan of the Beyond burger, and I'm glad to see it available at more places around Hong Kong - and in this case it was well-cooked and topped with onion rings, again slightly unexpected, but the crisp texture worked well in the burger. The fries on the side - part of the good-value 'meal' option, alongside a small salad and soft drink - were firm and tasty.
We also had a milkshake - you've got to, for the real American burger experience, and while the Irish Coffee shake wasn't very Irish, it was still thick and sweet!
The decor is fairly understated, but chilled - apart from the big neon sign on the wall - and the service was efficient and friendly. Would (will!) go again.
