This was our second visit in as many months to this resteraunt, having previously enjoyed oyster shooters, a very good spaghetti vongole and a well prepared steak. Unfortunately I did have a slightly upset stomach afterwards, but put that down to the risk you take with raw oysters, and wanted to come back and try other items on the menu.We arrived promptly at 8pm and were seated immediately and given the cocktail menu. We arrived promptly at 8pm and were seated immediately and given the cocktail menu. I asked what gin was available for a Dry Martini to be told that vodka was used, wrong! I eventually managed to order a Bombay Saphire Martini, and a ginger ale.We then waited, and waited and waited. After 15 minutes I ask where the drinks were, to be told the bar was on a separate floor, owned by the same owner as the resteraunt, and did not open till 8.30pm! After 25 minutes I canceled the Martini and had a glass of house wine which they luckily keep in the resteraunt. The ginger ale never did arrive. What is the manager thinking?
We ordered the seafood pasta and the rack of lamb, medium rare.
The pasta was well prepared, a generous portion and great flavour.
The lamb was a disaster! Upon cutting into it a vile smell arose from the meat. This was not just old meat, this was absolutely rotten. The waiter recoiled from the smell when I put some under his nose.
Thankfully the pasta was such a generous portion so I helped my wife finish it.
We were offered complimentary desserts, but the mood of the evening was now ruined and we just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.
This is a great shame as we really wanted to like this restaurant, and would have made it it a regular experience since it is walking distance from our home. However after the oysters, the lamb and the ridiculous bar policy we will not return.
