I received a $100 coupon from the restaurant so decided to try it out, as the previous reviews seem to give it a good rating. The setting was quite pleasant, with many semi-hidden tatami cubicles that face the big windows, overlooking Times Square. We were seated at the back near the oyster bar, which suited us well as it was unobtrusive and quieter, but service was still attentive.The food here was above average for the prices they were charging. 1) sashimi set with 6 types @$218 (4 fish - the usual suspects, octopus and botan ebi) - fresh
2) beef rolls with enoki mushrooms (3 pieces @$65) - tasty, but sauce a little too salty for me
3) extra long grilled skewer with chicken, beef, scallop, mushroom, leek and tomato @$68 - impressive looking, but the scallops relied heavily on the sauce to give it any taste, though credit was given to the beef which was tender
4) crabmeat (but actually it's just shredded crabstick) with avocado salad @$68 - stacked tartar style, it was fresh and lightly seasoned, with just enough sauce in the avocado to mix it all around, and the diced tomato balanced the creaminess well
5) Uosen ramen salad @$65 - the noodles stuck together and needed some teasing apart, the diced sashimi was bountiful but the sesame sauce was too thick and most likely poured straight out of a bottle
6) eel handroll @$28 - disappointed that the eel didn't taste fatty or juicy, just a few thin strips and not much garnish either
7) rice, miso soup @$25 - friend wanted something to wash it all down
8) green tea icecream @18 - icy, frozen, and flaky, not creamy at all, but the flavour was OK
Overall the meal was pleasant and satisfying, and filled us up at a reasonable price for a prime location in Causeway Bay. The oysters looked pretty good too, and the managers recommended us to try wine pairing with it next time.
