it was insanely hot-again. my family decided to pay a visit to this korean restaurant which has been on our list of when-you-think-about-dinner-you-think-about-it dinning list specifically for its cold buckwheat noodles, ICED.

my dad usually prefered the small dishes of kimchis for koreans rather than for local people (you can request for that, just say you want kimchis for koreans) but appearently they dont have that on weekend afternoons. so we settled with plates of kimchis for locals which were equally tasty. we ordered two cold buckwheat noodles in soup and one with hot sauce, together with a hot beancurd soup. we did not want to order too much as we would eat soon again tonight.

surprisingly the beancurd soup came first-we ordered a small to share, and it was not too spicy. the soup was well-seasoned, beancurd were tasty with the taste of the broth and they had an egg which was just well-cooked. the whole thing was very korean, very authentic, and very nice.

later the three big bowls of buckwheat noodles came. my dad gave some of his noodles with hot paste for us to try and i thought the original with broth was better. there was ice in it-the thing was well-chilled-but the soup was not sour enough. maybe it was because of the hottness outside, i had to add in quite a lot of vinegar and mustard to season it up. the noodles were thin but a little chewy, too long if you do not request for a cut with scissors, but it was oh so good especially in a hot, hot, HOT summer afternoon. the sliced white carrots, cucumber and pears were tasty as hell, but the beef shin was too tough and chewy-not compatible with the whole relaxing bowl of noodles at all.

the serving was huge and i could only finish two-thirds of the noodles. luckily we did not order anything else or else we would have to pack the excess for sure!

an 8 out of 10. and hey if you ask for real good buckwheat noodles id personally recommend those from kaya@causeway bay, although my parents prefer this korean restaurant to that.
