I should really regret booking this place for my best friend's birthday albeit all the alarming comments here!! I booked a table for 7, the guy on the phone was nice and helpful - guess he must be the manager since he seems like the only friendly being in the restaurant! The view of CRU, to be honest, is really impressive. The open window on the first floor provides a good backdrop for chit-chat and laughter. But the U-shaped table, I have to say, is way too little for 7 people. Guess only 5 p

The view of CRU, to be honest, is really impressive. The open window on the first floor provides a good backdrop for chit-chat and laughter.
But the U-shaped table, I have to say, is way too little for 7 people. Guess only 5 pax could sit there wit comfort. And it was really, really inconvenient for anyone to be excused since it just has to disturb the rest of us. So if you want a comfortable table for more than 5 pax, make sure it's not the U-shaped one upstairs.
We ordered one starter and seven main courses at 8:35, and we just realised it had taken a long time at 9:20. We asked a waiter, who said since we have seven main courses it would take a longer time. His attitude is okay, tho we didn't think it's an acceptable explanation.
Later we urged another waitress, who was simply hostile! She said we have TOO MANY main courses and THEY WERE REALLY BUSY. Without any further friendly words she immediately suggested us talking to the manager.
But the manager turns to be a really nice and friendly one, who made the dinner less of a disaster.
Yet to be objective, CRU's food is really great. They have good chefs - not too many since it took an hour to prepare - and the proportion is really huge!! I had a lamb shank, which is well-cooked, DELICIOUS.
The dessert menu is not particularly diverse and outstanding, all served at HKD$50. But the proportion, again, is huge! It's not bad to give a try since this price in SOHO is a competitive one.
The wine list is not as bad as aforementioned. Quite the contrary they have 2 pages for drinks. The price range doesn't seem unreasonably expensive. We had a Riesling this night, which was good.
If you are generous with service quality, CRU can be a good place.
