Jordan is a hidden gem of cheap and cheerful local restaurants that open til late night. I was attracted by the neon lights decor of Flame Kawap. We arrived at 9ish and the restaurant had only 2 seats available. All the food are cooked upon order so we started our meal with an ice old draft beer $68. Cumin Beef $18, Beef Tongue $38, Mala Pork Belly $20
The beef was medium well and tender. Beef tongue was bouncy. The mala sauce was slightly sweet and spicy. Thick cut of pork belly with a good amount of fat.
Chicken Platter $22
The original version includes chicken testicles, liver and heart. Heart was out of stock so they replaced with chicken skin. Two big pieces of poppy testicles. Two pieces of liver that was cooked just right. Crispy skin that was a bit chewy inside.
Cumin Lamb Rack $45, Cumin Lamb $18
The lamb meat had a mild meaty taste with lots of cumin on top that was savory. On the contrary, the lamb rack was gamey which I liked better!
Eggplant $35
Thick eggplant that melted in my mouth. Plenty of garlic on top!
Pineapple $16, Chili Pepper $12, Chinese Chives $14, Cherry Tomato $12
Honestly I don't order much veggies at grill places because they usually come in small portions but are more pricey compared to meat skewers. Flame Kawap offers a wide range of veggies choices that are cheap. I did not expect they were such big portions!
Spring Chicken (Half) $78
Very impressive! Hadn't had such juicy spring chicken in years! The meat juice kept dripping out of the meat. So tender and nicely seasoned. Served with fries.
In addition to draft beer, they're having a special offer of buy 2 get 1 free bottled Asahi. That means you only pay $64 to get 3 big bottles. Such a good deal!
Customers kept coming even after 10.30pm. Seats are limited. Nice place for beer and supper. Cheap prices. Would love to try their homemade charsiu next time!
