The restaurant is within one of the eateries of The Pulse that directly front the beach area of Repulse Bay. It was a pretty hot day so we chose the part of the restaurant area with air conditioning to enjoy a bit of cool air. There were already a lot of comments in OpenRice of the “must haves” when visiting this restaurant, hence we dutifully ordered Corn Bread, Pork Neck, Grilled whole fish and Churros as recommended. There were already a lot of comments in OpenRice of the “must haves” when visiting this restaurant, hence we dutifully ordered Corn Bread, Pork Neck, Grilled whole fish and Churros as recommended.
Here are my tasting notes:
Corn Bread - be prepared!! as it didn’t look nor taste like bread😆. The bread was baked perfectly and when cut open, it had the texture of a cake with crushed corn. There was slight sweetness coming through, possibly from the corn, and the herb butter (though I would prefer a stronger herb infusion) gave it the necessary richness. Quite flavourful “cake/bread”
Pork Neck- the charred pork neck was cooked beautifully; juicy and tender with the right amount of fat within the meat, and the refreshing salad and sauce worked harmoniously. It was indeed one of the “must haves”.
Whole Line caught Sea Bass - the fish was cooked just right and not dry, and the charred skin was flavourful. In comparison, the sauce accompanying the fish came out rather bland, and it would require more citrus and kick to lift and complement the fish.
Hand Piped Churros - five big churros came with coconut ice cream and a salted caramel sauce. The cinnamon coated churros were crunchy on the outside and soft in the centre, and they were of the right sweetness. Perfect dessert to end the meal.
The service from the staff was good and one can easily spend all afternoon there enjoying the beach views and chill😎🤭
