*In One Simple Sentence:*
Looks pretty, but pricey and not crispy enough

*Insider Tip:*
Go with the Brezels

Visiting Details:
Food rating: 5/10
Service: 6/10
Ambiance: 6/10
Price: HK$30-150
Serving Tab Water/Tea: No-No
English Menu: Yes

What we really liked:
The freshly and locally baked goods
And what not:
That the bread wasn't crispy at all, just the same old soft bread we get everywhere

Summary:
Service
The service is good, talkative, explaining the different breads and flavours and offering samples for the indecisive ones.
There are usually plates on the counter with sample's of all bread, so if you don't know which type to get, try before you spend your money.

The Place
Simple street shop in Cochrane Street below the midlevel escalator. It's nicely refurbished from the previous smoothie store. Easily reached from central MTR station. Just follow the escalator and get off at Lyndhurst Terrace.

The Food
Of course I had to try this place. I am a bread enthusiast (being German that's all we have 80% of the day), and if there is one thing that is dearly missing in Hong kong, it's crispy, fresh, oven warm German Bread. If you haven't been to Europe, or Germany, you might not know what I am talking about, because for some reason, all you get in Asia is this horrible, mushy, soft bread where the crust is the same texture as the inside. And that's wrong.

Good Bread
is crispy and crunchy on the crust, warm and wheaty on the inside, and best served 1-2 hours after coming out of the oven.

The Bread at Swissbeck is ok in Asian standard, but once again missing the crispy punch. The baked goods seem to be fresh and are good in flavour, the buns, Pretzels and Danishs likewise. You can tell they are made locally and by someone experienced, but they simply lag the last bit of crunch.

Also the breads are quite steap priced, from 50HK$ onwards.
