Ate at bonheur. Very disappointed. Ate at bonheur. Very disappointed. Appetizer of foie gras terrine and toast was very encouraging, but the house wine tasted as bad as rice wine (that's one level below paint stripper, it was as bad as a paint stripper and then some).

The bread made up for some of the disappointment of the wine (sounds like communion). The prawn bisque was satisfactory.

The main course of beef cheek with potatoes and (red wine?) mushroom sauce was disappointing. The beef was like taiwanese noodle beef, so it was fatty already. The sauteed potatoes made a fatty dish even more filling. Taking sips of the paint stripper/rice wine was no help.

Had to wait for the butterscotch souffle (which was understandable). Now is a good time to say something about the environment.

Guess this place had been long enough to be famous and a booking is mandatory, which I am not well prepared to have (i decide where to eat at whim). So it was still packed by the time I was seated (10pm). What's worse, they're hosting two parties and the two tables in front are being particularly annoying. Seems like a bunch of alpha males and squelly girls prematurely clubbing when they should be dining. Overheard some are hedge fund employees and risk managers. True I was in the soundproofed section of the restaurant (the other main dining section must be quieter) but who's to say I may be sitting here again or not if i'm bringing someone with me.

(Decor's nice in the soundproofed area tho. The main eating area's too bright).

Souffle came. I think I haven't eaten one in a long time so I forgot whether to use the spoon or fork for this. Didn't tasted the butterscotch, the banana only just.

And they have the audacity to charge $520 for the thing, without breakdown! Since the four course was $390, the water must've been $30 and the wine $45.

Staff service was so so.

They can keep their good business. Whilst I normally believe good places are packed and don't publicise, this place is overrated. Or maybe their cuisine style's not for me. I rather be at le merron's for this much money.
