Post night shift, I came here for some food after waking up. I arrived around 3 PM and there was no need to queue. I was greeted by a friendly waiter who let me sit whereever I wanted so I chose the bar area.Foxtail & Broomcom is an Asian noodle shop with a focus on using no MSG. That is their motto. The layout is simple. An open kitchen with a bar area facing them. A few tables in the front of the restaurant. Everything is a hip turquoise and white color. This place is .... yes, hip. You will
Foxtail & Broomcom is an Asian noodle shop with a focus on using no MSG. That is their motto. The layout is simple. An open kitchen with a bar area facing them. A few tables in the front of the restaurant. Everything is a hip turquoise and white color. This place is .... yes, hip. You will not find blue collar workers come in for a bowl of noodles like what you find in the noodle shops in the same street. No ... you will find young professional looking people, eating their noodles and looking chic. And non MSG noodles at that! Because MSG is bad. Even though it doesn't kill people but people try to avoid it anyways.
They have several types of noodles from different areas of Asia with names to reflect the cities they originate from. Names like Tokyo, Hoi An, Tapei. Originally, I wanted the Amoy but it was sold out so I ended up trying the Kansai ($68 and no service charge).
Kansai was a udon noodle tofu patties in a mushroom dashi soup. The dashi soup was flavorful and not overly salty. Soup, however, wasn't hot but lukewarm. There were plenty of shitake mushrooms added. Udon was handmade and I could tell as it was not evenly cut. Texture was chewy and smooth. Pretty good noodle.
