Our first visit to Honbo was the branch in Wan Chai about a month ago which left us a pretty good impression of their burgers! As we had to find somewhere for dinner after work, we decided to pay this Honbo branch a visit which was a newly opened branch in the food court of Jardine House on the basement floor called Base Hall! Base Hall was located at the former Grappa's Cellar with the very elegant and antique interior decoration being kept. With the fast pop background music, it made one feel
This Honbo counter was at the corner of the hall. So this Honbo was an award-winning American-style burger bar. It was regarded by Bloomberg as one of the best burgers in the world 2020 and it was the only representative from HK.
According to their menu, they bake their own buns, hand cut their fries and their beef is ground in house daily with 美國熟成牛肉. There were so many choices of burgers and even Impossible Burger. Having tried their Gold Standard and Honbo 2.0 last time at the Wan Chai branch, we decided to try something more simple this time. There was no service charge.
After about 10 min, we could get our food nicely packed in a big paper bag already!
It was pretty considerate of them to write the names of the burgers on top of the box for easy identification. The packaging was pretty nice with thick containers for the burgers and thick straws for drinks. They also provided forks for eating the coleslaw and quite a lot of napkin.

Honbo (2 x 2oz beef patty, cheese, pickles, onion, house sauce) at $88
Despite eating after quite a while, the buns were still pretty crispy and the beef patty was still quite juicy too. The presence of cheese and house sauce made it less dry while the onion and pickles enhanced texture of the burger. It was quite easy to eat that the burger could fit into my mouth so that I could try all layers at one bite. There was a paper wrapping for the burger inside the thick container box for added hygiene.

Cheese Burger (4 oz beef patty, cheese, pickles, onion, lettuce, house sauce) at $88
I personally liked the cheese burger more as there seemed to be more cheese making it even more juicy and the presence of lettuce enhanced the flavour of the burger quite a lot.

Fries
You could top the burger price up by $40 to get a basic side and a drink with top ups to get better snacks and drinks at your choice. There was a self-serviced-counter with ketchup and mustard sauces. Portion of the fries was so big! They were freshly deep fried and were those of the thicker type so were so starchy! They were different from the thin fries we had at the Wan Chai branch last time. They went great with the sour ketchup! They were not overly oily at all and made me feel much less evil having finished all!

Coleslaw
Another side we had was Coleslaw. It was pretty healthy with appropriate amount of salad dressing mixed with fresh cabbage slices.
Coke Zero & Coke
You could order sparkling or still water too in addition to coke zero and coke. They were served in whole cans.
Hope we can try eating in soon, as the quality of the food must be even better eating fresh! Prices were not expensive as there was no service charge and given the award-winning burgers!
