I missed the sloppy joe so much that I could feel the urge to kill my craving. By chance I had seen in Google that this hot dog outlet near my place offers chilli dogs (yay! similar to sloppy joe!) so it's a sure thing to try! By the time I arrived the industrial building was around 4pm. Once entered this shop, the cigarette smoke made me choke cuz the three young ladies sat at the front table were taking their feg. By the time I arrived the industrial building was around 4pm. Once entered this shop, the cigarette smoke made me choke cuz the three young ladies sat at the front table were taking their feg. They were already done with their meals and gonna leave soon so I decided to say nothing. But I doubted why the owner permitted smoking since the shop has an open kitchen.
Shop In general speaking, this shop is tiny, provided with dim light, stock and drinks stacked around, two dining tables were squashed together within very limited space so it is obviously not a friendly, comfortable place especially if you are big boned. It sits only 8 persons so I would recommend to pre-order your take-away meal by phone if possible.
Service The mid-aged lady who was taking my order became totally ignorant when she heard the phone rang. Also the way she answered the phone inquiries was rude & cocky (repeated "你唔明呀?!" "你明唔明呀!"). Yes, she did NOT get back to me once finished the call. Honestly I was astonished by her poor service. It was her teenage son who later realised my incomplete order.
Each hot dog costs $24, well, the $25 tea set (any hot dog + a can drink) offer begins at 3:15pm, so I ordered two tea sets to ease my crave
I chose cheese dog and chilli dog. For drinks, they no longer provide cream soda and coke, instead they have pepsi, miranda and mountain dew, so I asked for pepsi max and mountain dew. They were served in less than 10 minutes.
Cheese dog the ready-made fratwurst sausage was equally rich in cheese and was not dry. Slightly juicy inside. Diced cucumber was fresh and crunchy, onion was not stinky and too strong. Hot dog bun was slightly toasted as it would be difficult to eat if hardened. It is a shame that they didn't put enough relish and added too much mustard, I could taste very few of its unique sour-sweetness. Well, I rated this hot dog 6.5 out of 10, overall it was nice.
Chilli dog ready-made fratwurst for this hot dog as well. It had a hint of jalapeno, not as outstanding as the cheese one. There were also a lot of freshly chopped onions on top. Chilli was fairly spicy, and had strong taste of ketchup, rather sweet to me. Again, too much mustard that spoiled the taste of chilli! I reckoned they should put more chilli, and to offer mustard in squeeze bots so customers themselves can decide the portion size I would give only 5.5 out of 10 for this chilli dog. I'll rate better if it could have jalapeno pickles on top
Almost 4:45pm i ate up my two hot dogs, the mid-aged lady was cleaning up the stoves and grills yet kept looking at me with an upsetting face like she anticipated I could leave before the closing time (5pm). I finally lost my appetite to finish my drinks in this unwelcome atmosphere...I might have chosen a wrong time to visit.
Bcuz of such amazingly bad service, I would step back and consider twice before turn up again although the food is reasonably nice.
