It's heartening to know that Hong Kong is no stranger to good Middle Eastern cuisine, and one of such is OH Food. Located at a warehouse at Wan Chai, the exterior is very unassuming but the interior is done up nicely with candlelight tables and comfortable sofa seats, making this venue perfect for first dates or celebrations. When we got there for dinner, there were still a lot of tables but people started trickling in. The impression here is that people come through word of mouth recommendation
Speaking of hummus, it is a must try. For the dinner set, it comes with two soups of the day (for us it was creamy corn soup), two starters and mains of our choice. The hummus is served with olive oil and a little dash of spices that really brings out all the creaminess and nuttiness of chickpeas. It would be better if the bread was also served hot, but then again, everything is better with hummus spread over it. Our other starter was fried potatoes, another simple but super delectable dish. The potatoes are deep fried but not greasy, and becomes the perfect starchy base for the yogurt sauce that comes along with it. Halfway, my dinner company started dunking the potato crisps into the buttery soup and claimed that it was a super good move.
We got lamb and beef slices for mains, and both were nicely seasoned, slightly charred, and went well with the melted cheese and black pepper sauces. It becomes a very meaty meal, but that's when you start mixing your rice with scoops of yogurt to add some variation to the party of tastes going on. All in all, the service was pretty good also and the food was awesome, especially in a country where Asian food traditionally rule the foodie landscape. The dinner set is definitely filling - hopefully next round, I'll be able to try their dessert platter and find an option for authentic Middle Eastern sweet pastries.
