In HK these days, it seems all the Japanese hot pots are operated by chains and all-you-can-eat style.   Thought Hana would be different, but in fact, it's run by the same group as the Mr. Steak restaurants.    Situated on the high traffic Tang Lung Street next to Midtown, this little restaurant's existence always feels mysterious, not only because it has no windows, but maybe because I've never seen people coming in / out of it.  Finally we decided to give it a try to see what's inside.
The inside actually is quite small, with only about 6-7 tables;  however, each table was big and spacious, allowing a lot of privacy.   On the night of our dinner on a weekday, it was half full, meaning 3 - 4 tables including us.
We went for the 佐賀 A5 Wagyu set menu for 2 @ $ 1288 as it seemed value for money, including a sashimi platter, kushiyaki platter, and misc. sides,  while the individual portion for the A5 was already @ $ 668.
With no expectations at all on the sashimi, I can only say it's a fair deal with the typical salmon, scallop, shrimp.   The kushiyaki platter offered quite a generous portion for 3 -types (I think including ox tongue), two skewers each.    Finally came the main highlight - the A5 : the portion was also quite a lot in my opinion.  A waitress was there the whole time to prepare it for us, leaving us to finish each slice before she came back to prepare the next.    Not sure if the fact that each slice was a bit thick could be one of the causes, but the wagyu was a bit tough and hard, both the togarashi and the sankaku - no where close to melting in your mouth like the wagyu at Katte Shabushabu also in CWB.
Regardless, it was a nice evening as the food came continuously at a moderate pace to accompany our nice chat, the big table also gave us a a relaxed feeling.   Service was also attentive and courteous, no one was rushing.   Overall ambiance felt neat and clean.
