The Luxe Seafood Bar & Resto.The food scene is getting cray cray ! They are so many restaurants opening , keep on booming up , keep on drive me crazy .... Yes . Right . Speaking of seafood , The Luxe Seafood Bar located in Langham Place on the 12/F takes a slightly different approach with huge courage . A new addition to the Sushi One group , Luxe offers glammed -up brasserie dishes and fusion fare from all over the world . Luxe has a menu incorporating plenty of fresh seafood and clear options . The selections are not that extensive yet versatile and playful ! Dishes with creativity , a fresh fusion mix , the head chef Leo Kam cooks up whatever he feels like . However , the overall performance is nothing out of the ordinary , flat and average .

Bread basket is not a bad start .Luxe provides three kinds of bread at night . Small bun , wheat loaf and herb baguette . Small bun is a bit hard , generally tastes insipid . Wheat loaf is soft with a sightly crispy layer , the texture and tastes both are favorable . Herb baguette is quite aromatic and buttery , this is much more soft and supple than the normal one . Butter is spreadable , but slightly salty , not a big deal .

The acclaimed executive chef , Leo has a creative approach on developing new cuisines results in w wide range of innovative dishes imbued with essences from different cultures . This tacos in K - pop style is one of the creations . The chef use Galbi Jim beef rib , mix up with homemade Kimchi and purple cabbage , fish tacos underneath and lastly topped with green Sasa sauce . Somehow , this playful starter is a big disappointment. It tastes really odd and wired , the kimchi doesn't match with the tacos at all and I can't feel any hint from the beef. You just don't know what you are having while eating this .

Four different oysters are delicately placed on a long plate . Looks colorful and graceful .Oysters overall is quite refreshing . Fresh with a briny sea salt hint . Its arrange from the light taste , paired with the minced pear from the left hand side , then red wine vinegar , sea urchin with green sasa sauce for a heavier touch and kimchi egg yolk mayonnaise for a dense tastes .My favorite one is the uni one , uni is generously given out , melt effortless on your tongue and blend well with the oyster . The sweetness and richness of the uni can bring out the natural oyster hint . This is not a bad choice for starter , somehow it is just a bit pricy which cost $168 .

Pan - fried Sea bass is nothing special to mention . This is just a normal one , tastes are about average and I think the texture is a bit dry ,quite monotonous. The worst thing is the side dish . They give out so much pomelo on both side , the pomelo is not seasonal , doesn't match well with the sea bass at all .I think the side dish is inappropriate and tastes odd ! The side dish ruin the whole thing up .

The Duck is one of the many cuisines in the Luxe that combines elements from Eastern culture to Western culture . For this unique delicacy , it is a big success . Served on a hot pot , looks good in a decent presentation . Traditionally prepared French duck breast with the Peking Duck leg . Duck breast is honey coated , very favorable . Pan fried duck breast is not greasy , but perfectly stew to create a succulent juicy mouthfuls Peking duck leg roasted to a crispy layer with a tender meaty content . The duck are not tough at all . Texture and tastes both are amazing good. Side dishes like mashed potato is buttery and rich , while the green mixs come to wild organic carrots and sweet corn , both are fresh and got the potential to escalate the performance .This is the highlight of the meal , it strikes a balance for a fusion dish . All ingredients complement perfectly well . Worth trying .

Risotto in corn cream ,with chinese bacon and pan fried scallops
This is also one of the featured dish recommended by the press . However , I don't really that enjoy this dish . A shiny golden looking with glow is really tempting and favorable , somehow the texture is over soft and soggy ! This is more like porridge than risotto . The risotto is overdone with a thick and over -heavy sauce , very salty too . Risotto are more like Japanese rice , just slightly chewy but not al dente . They even edded chinese bacon (臘腸+ 菜脯) in it . The mouthfuls are even more salty and extremely filling . The scallops gain a victory with its gigantic size , add some marks to the dish with its springy texture and fresh hint .

Both dessert we order presented really well and tastes good too . Milk pudding presented in an original coconut shell deserves mention . At the bottom part of the shell , it has a thin chocolate layer , successfully complex the flavors well . Milk pudding is light with natural coconut hint and mild lemon grass, mouthfuls are smooth and tastes refreshing . This is not sweet , best pick for male!

Elvis Presley is my favorite . As a chocoholics , this sweet delights cheer me up . With a charming evocative name , this dessert is rich in flavor . Dark chocolate ice cream is greatly dense and strong , tastes unique compare to the normal one , match well with the crispy waffle and the banana is glazed by caramel , the whole thing is playful yet likable . The chef even add peanut butter to form a more richness touch , extremely tempting ! I am glad that at least our dinner end with a pleasant note .

The restaurant was designed to embrace broth old school and majestic elements to create a perfect place for people to enjoy a fine dining experience and interact in harmony . Within the store is a 98 years old " La Moutte Vintage poster , this is a remarkable interior design match , better then the dish . First time coming to this restaurant , I was attracted by the entrance too , lofty and noble .

Inspired by the Art Nouveau art moment , the entire ambience is very cozy with a black and bronze color palette , quite a high ceilinged interior design too ! Decor is clear yet glamorous . Curved ceiling and antique mirror windows gives out a welcome sign when dinners walk in. Service overall is about average , staffs are easy going and polite , but a bit dull and sluggish at times . Not that smart and bright .

Luxe is not overly crowded in peak hours , perhaps it 's the time to evaluate the overall performance and assess once again . It is always not late to make improvements , it is all about the sincerity and effort . Especially Luxe is grandly opened , yet still have plenty of time .
