Before boba became trendy on social media, there was Saint's Alp Teahouse. The first to bring boba tea to Hong Kong, they had shops on almost every corner. And then? They all closed. Now they not only offer drinks but food. So, we rested our feet for a snack and a drink as they offered an afternoon tea menu that included any choice of drink.
If memory served me correctly, I loved their boba milk tea. This was way before the brown sugar boba craze. It was simply milk tea with boba. It arrived with a frothy top. That is when boyfriend exclaimed that it was frothy. I had completely forgotten! It was ok. The boba was a bit too soft. The milk tea was a bit watered down. Boyfriend had the kamquat lemon. It was a lot better than mine. Sour and sweet at the same time.
Soy sauce marinated chicken wings ($40) was my snack choice. These were really salty. So salty, I wonder how long they had it sitting in it. At least they weren't dry. They just tasted like salty soy sauce.
Boyfriend chose the deep fried peppered squid ($42). This fared better. The squid was at least soft. The outside was crunchy. But the coating fell off too easily. There also wasn't enough seasoning.
Food was pretty terrible. The drinks were not that great. I think it was better when I remembered it. Or maybe it was always this way but I had forgotten?
