Came here for dinner with some friends after checking out the awesome Invader exhibit at PMQ. I was interested in this place for the following reasons: funky name (who wouldn't love the name boom boom boom shack!) and cool fake food truck decor.Layout is cool. You order and pay at the counter and they give you a VERY heavy block of wood with a number on it. They bring you the food that is pushed out from the "food truck" when ready.
Lemy Lemonade ($45). This was pretty good lemonade and had a cute design as the label. I had never seen this brand before.
Kung Fu Fish Taco ($88). Fish taco was horrible. Seriously. Horrible. The menu said pan seared white fish, curry sesame dressing, sambol, avocado, orange and mango. What we got was some mushy fish that tasted and looked like it was canned tuna. The dressing was nonexistent making the entire thing bland. Quite possibly the worst tacos I've ever had in Hong Kong. And I've had some pretty nasty ones.
Vintage Boom Burger ($78). This was a served on a potato bun and was square in size.
The meat was medium rare but everything just fell apart. I'm all for grease but this was a greasy mess. The whole bun was soaked in oil and everything just felt like one sloppy grease pit. What was more appalling was the meat was underseasoned.
The food was terrible and grossly over priced for the quality we got. Portions were also small. It is no wonder it was empty on a Saturday night. Won't be back.
