Went to meet an old friend from high school tonight, it just so happens that we didn't talk much during school but end up chatting a lot with the accompaniment of jazz at Ned Kelly's last stand this night! 😆🎵 We came here especially for the jazz music! Music brings people together! So we had a table booked at 7:30pm. When I arrived at 7:30pm, the pub was half filled and there were two tables being reserved (one of them was for us). So we had a table booked at 7:30pm. When I arrived at 7:30pm, the pub was half filled and there were two tables being reserved (one of them was for us). We first sat with our backs facing to the stage and thought of changing seats when the jazz begins around 9:30pm. (It wasn't a good view to see the jazz band as the pub was packed that time, so we didn't get to change our seats until about 10:30pm).
The pub was very much British styled, decorated with wooden furniture, with dimmed lights, and a stage packed with musicians and their instruments. At around 10pm the pub was very full and everyone was very into the music 🎶😍
There were around 10 musicians, most of them are filipino, one from HK and one from the UK, Manchester. Me and my friend stayed until 11:30pm and enjoyed 2 jazz sessions: 9:30-10pm and 10:30-11:15pm. There was a break in between for the musicians to take a rest. The pub owner was very friendly. He introduced every member of the band, and he joined in to sing a few sings to all of us. One of the songs is my all time favourites: Fly me to the Moon 😆👍🏻 It was awesome ☺️ 🌙
Overall the food was alright (uk pub style with choices like fish & chips, shepherd's pie, burgers, all day breakfast etc); the service was a bit slow due to busy service but it was acceptable; the music was great and had a lot of variety (mixed with slow and fast pace songs; plus the owner singing songs and telling jokes just makes everything become very chilled) Me and my friend felt very relaxed after a whole week of hard work 😆👍🏻
The happy hour here is from 11:30am-9pm (for most cocktails, wines and beers). We were lucky to grab a few discounted drinks before 9pm 😆👍🏻🍺🍷🍸🍹
Would love to visit here again and hopefully get a good seat at the start to enjoy jazz!!!!!!!!!!
