Heard about this place for some time but didn't manage to make a visit until now - what a lovely surprise! Art deco style dining room feels spacious and tables are big enough for multiple dishes - my pet hate is a tiny table for two people which cannot even accommodate two plates.Onto the food - read about the smoked egg that comes with the Krug - I adore Krug - so we ordered that as soon as we sat down. Onto the food - read about the smoked egg that comes with the Krug - I adore Krug - so we ordered that as soon as we sat down. It took some time but the waiter very nicely brought over two eggs from the a la carte menu to accompany our Krug while we waited - super nice gesture and I must say the eggs tasted great, perhaps a little less dramatic than the smoked eggs that arrived under a glass dome with visible smoke swirling around the little enclosure. Needless to say the smokiness combined with some truffle and the egg yolk worked wonders on ones palate, and the Krug pairs well with the dish.
Other memorable dishes include a nice razor clam with some caviar to provide the necessary saltiness and a constrast in texture; the signature bikini sandwich with jamon iberico; a Catalan interpretation of gambas al ajillo with over-sized succulent red prawns and some mash, I particularly like the toned down garlic and the smooth texture of the prawns; a plate of piping hot pimientos de padron, among the best I have tasted; a grilled octopus that was soft and tasty. The only slight let down was the croquetas that was too dry.
We had a bottle of Alion 2005 to accompany the meal and the mature tempranillo was silky smooth and well structured.

Service was efficient and aimed to please - we appreciate the extra eggs and the attentiveness to our table.
