I've always meant to create an account on Openrice but Club 28 at Crowne Plaza was what really triggered me to get things going. We walked in 5min pass 9pm and were made aware of the HKD180 minimum charge per person which was fine to us. We sat down and ordered a cheese platter, red wine, and a non-alcoholic HKD85 drink. The prices were a bit on the expensive side but we were looking for a comfortable place to chat so the numbers weren't that much of an issue. It got busier later on and we also received more "service" as our drinks were half finished.
The staff from Club 28 came over more than 6 times from 10pm to 11pm asking if we needed anything else. One time was when my friend's drink was half finished, another time was when our drinks were down to 1/3, and again when the cheese platter was almost done and even attempted to take it away when we still had food on the plate, and again when my drink had 1/4 left and they wanted to take it away, then a couple other times when they just wanted to come over to see if we are ok. How do you expect your customers to be ok with the extremely hard working staff? It was so obvious they were trying to kick us out. There were still tables available and no line up when we left.
We only wanted a place to chat and Club 28 was definitely not what we were looking for. At HKD180 min charge per person, there are many other options in HK with better environment, respectable service, and professional staff.
No Club 28 again for me.
