Brook's Cafe comes all the way from Tokyo, in the splashy area of Harajuku. What they specialize in is something called dripesso. The one in Tokyo is more of an actual restaurant, serving healthy food, ice cream and coffee. But the Hong Kong branch is much smaller and only serves coffee, tea and ice cream.

Boyfriend and I were unsure so we only ordered something to share. So we ended up ordeirng the uji matcha shiratama parfait with gold leaf ($52).

First things first: it took them a LONG time to make this parfait. I think they are still going through growing pains. The container was also a bit unstable for the amount of stuff on, making it a bit heavy and easy to topple over.

The parfait included matcha soft serve, azuki bean paste, matcha dango and matcha gateau de riz on top, a layer of whipped cream rice puffs and on the bottom matcha drink and matcha jelly.

The matcha soft serve was ok. Creamy enough but not a very strong matcha taste. It was a bit on the sweet side and I would think the closest is Cha Cha's own matcha soft serve. The azuki beans were not very sweet and very paste like. Dango was soft and chewy. But what was my favorite was the little gateau de riz, little cakes that look like rice. These were fabulous. Soft and moist little cakes with a touch of matcha. They kind of tasted like the ones that you get from one of those box matcha cakes from a Japanese souvenier shop. Not that there is anything wrong with that as I love those souvenier shop cakes.

Oh yeah...it also said gold leaf on the menu. Here's the gold leaf. Seriously, why bother? Not that I expected the same amount of gold leaf on the soft serve I had in Kanazawa, Japan but seriously ... I kind of expected more than a microscopic dot. It adds not flavor so I don't get it.

All in all, pretty ok soft serve. I would return again and next time try the coffee.
