While Korean BBQ is leading the trend nowdays, Morihachi Yakiniku is still going strong with their Japanese BBQ business. Our first time coming to their TST branch, the place is quite spacious with comfortable bench table seating as well as bar table area if you wish to order a la carte or just for a drink. Pretty appetitising drink with an adequate sourness. Most importantly, it was not too sweet!

You may order your sake warm or chilled. I found warm sake sweeter so I always like to have my sake warm. The serving was generous with the jar filled with sake to the top! It was just perfect for two to share! Nice!

We found lettuce on the menu and they also served it with some miso sauce for you to wrap the meat around.

Among them, I found the sakura pork roll with cheese quite interesing and it is not something you can see on the menu of every Japanese BBQ restaurant. Besides, the pietro with leask and salt was really tasty with a great crunchiness after being cooked. It was chewy with a great yuzu flavour! Overall, the meat looked fresh and tender. We weren't too worry to try out everything on the menu! Short plate
Black pork herbs sausage
We think the short plate was one of our favourite dishes on the menu. It gave a strong beef flavour without being too hard to chew. It was not too fatty which I also liked. If you don't like too much meat, you may switch to have some deep fried food on the menu.
Deep fried breaded prawn
My friend who is a big fan of deep fried goodness, she told me this deep fried prawn was a lot better than any other Japanese restaurants out there! Quite surprising!

Comparatively, this croquette was a bit disappointing since it was not creamy at all. It's just a piece of corn hashbrown.

Their cartilage was deep fried with the same batter as the tempura. Therefore it was quite thick with a hint of curry flavour.

Pretty interesting that they have Korean dumpling on the menu. It was nicely seared with crispy skin.

Cold tofu with lobster salad
The tofu was super smooth with no powery texture or lumps. It was topped with some light sesame sauce, and a few pieces of lobster meat and shrimp roe to create a great contrast to the soft texture from the tofu!
If you like tofu, this is a must order for you!

More like a Japanese seaweed clam soup to me. The clam meat was at least fresh and big in size.

We have also ordered a lot of veggie which is to be cooked in a tin foil bowl on top of the stove. The restaurant also provided a dollop of buttter for you to cook your veggie. Everythign was sweet and fresh. Not a bad choice to order if you want something healthier in a BBQ dinner.

I liked the hot version better because the soup has a nicer flavour from the small piece of meat, onion, and some musrhoom. The udon was the same as the cold one, which is the thick one that you may find in the market.

The tofu ice cream has already run out when we ordered we went for their signature ice cream which is a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with a little of yellow bean powder, and some light sauce.
