Of course, I was craving breakfast food again. There I was with my friend trying to decide what to have for lunch, and we came across this place. To my surprise, It was pretty empty so we went straight in. The dining tables lied neatly on both sides of the wall, the neatness made the place seem clean but the decoration was kinda plain so I felt like something was lacking.I just didn't feel comfortable in there.
My friend and I ordered the Ocio Special and the Parisian to share.
The breakfast was a very generous portion for $83. It kinda looked like a hungry person trying to put as much food on his/ her plate as possible at a buffet. Since there were a lot of proteins, you'd be pretty full if you finished it yourself. This is what was on the plate:
1. Scrambled eggs-they were creamy and you got a lot
2. One piece of white toast cut in half- I felt like it had been sitting since it was cold and the tips were soggy . Soggy bread is a huge turn off or me.
3. Salad+ tomato- I liked the balsamic vinergarette that was on the salad. It was balanced and not acidity at all; same for the tomato.
4. Sausage- it was insanely long and it was packed in herbs, but it was good.
5.Fried chicken - an overcooked piece of meat that had too much Rosemary on it. Rosemary is a herb that needs to be used in moderate amounts.
6+7+8+9. Ham, beans, mushrooms and smoked salmon - I grouped all these together because I really have nothing to say about them; nothing stood out.
10.Potato wedges- they had enough taste but weren't crispy enough for me.
Overall, it was like one big party, where no one talked to anyone and they were all doing their own thing.
i think that the dishes were priced quite reasonably compared to other restaurants that serve similar food. However,I don't think the quality of food was worth it.
Service:
Our server was okay. It took him a while to give us water, but he was considerate enough to serve us our waffles after finishing the main even though we didn't ask him to. Also, we didn't have to ask him to bring us plates since we were sharing and he automatically gave us clean plates when our dessert came.
The final verdict:
i wasn't too impressed with the breakfast and i realized today that I prefer the Chinese style waffle with Peanutbutter. Therefore, i doubt that i'd be back. I'm starting to get frustrated because I can't seem to find a place that serves good western breakfast in Hong Kong and every place serves up the exact same plate of breakfast; I hope to see some more vareity.
