Passing by Causeway Bay Pennington Street and of course dropping by the famous monchi ball ball bakery for some goodnesses.

I thought I was one of the luckiest that no need to be queued as many of the reviews must have mentioned about the crazy queue outside the narrow pedestrian. Once I stepped in, the cashier yelled at me saying only allow one person coming into the bakery if purchasing monchi ball ball; if anything else, welcome to walk in. I was kind of embarrassed because I have no clue about their rules (maybe I didn't aware of their notice?) and the cashier was kind of loud that even those passing by looked at me.

Anyway, I walked in for the purchase after the previous customer finished her payment. I asked for two matcha, two earl grey, one original and one taro; additionally one scone. Price-wise, they were quite expensive compared to most of the bakeries that sell monchi ball. The monchi ball ball size were generally big, but not as gigantic as it can be same size as a normal pineapple bun and a pineapple bun id cheaper than on monchi ball ball here. For some special flavours, they are even double the price. Visually, kind of overrated for me.

Enjoying all after 2hours back home within the same day, honestly I don't see their uniqueness.
As expected, chewy and soft and airy. Neither doughy nor too sweet. Sadly, apart from non-original ones having a cookie like crust covering on top, they tasted exactly like originals. Match and Earl Grey tasted almost the same while taro may have a very mild coconut flavour. Very let down.

Scone looks rustic. Tasted alright. Nothing special. Just an ordinary raisin scone. Not as buttery and holding up nicely. But HKD22 is again way pricier than a local bakery should charge.

I understand that considering the small area, the bakery has to limit the amount of people going in especially most are coming for their monchi ball ball. Queuing is unavoidable but I believe it may not be a sign of quality. Price kind of a 'Mehhh'; well it's located in Causeway bay, so...?! Packaging is thoughtful, designing with a zip lock and a handle part. Staff's expression and attitude can be improved. All in all, it's an experience but there are many more options.
