Since the SYP MTR station opened, there are more and more restaurants opening in the neighbourhood. Chico Chica, means boys and girls in Spanish, is located on the 3rd street, just 3 mins walk from the MTR exit B2. The restaurant is nicely decorated with an open kitchen and a small bar area facing the street, perfect for people-watchers. The interior uses the main colours of red, yellow, and blue, with a lot of square tiles, reflecting the symbolic historical architecture in Barcelona.Above each

Above each table, some hangers are available for customers to hang their coat above head which I think is a brilliant idea that saves space and actually do look cute.

B. Palacio, Roija 2011 Tempranillo ($70)

Something different from any typcical Spanish wine, it kind of showed a character  of some French wines out in the market, because it was aged in new French oak, silky tannins.

Eel Toast ($98)

This eel toast actually is made from a small piece of smoked eel, sitting on top of a halved foie gras, apple puree, then a piece of rustic bread from Spain.

Despite the perfectly balanced foie gras and apple puree, the smoked eel was still very prominent, delivering a pungent smoked flavour to the bite. The bread gave a perfect snap contrasting with the soft and juicy foie gras and eel. The smokiness from the eel did match beautifully with the fatty buttery foie gras, one thing I would recommend is the size of the eel, which could be slightly bigger so that I can taste it in every bite of the toastie.

Served with bread stick, grapes, and quince paste to clean your palette in between different types of cheese.

Mahon, the only cow cheese in the platter, delivered the milkiest and creamiest in texture and lightest in flavour.

Manchego delivered the stongest and saltiest taste among all. This hard savoury cheese was a great pairing to a glass of red wine .

The pork was really succulent and it cook no effort tearing it. One thing to appreciate would be the way they toast the Chinese style steamed white buns, because they were all nicely toasted inside as well as the bottom, creating a texture of crunchy on the outside but soft inside.

Creme Catalanya ($68)

Everyone knows about the crispy churros from Spain but not this Creme Catalanya. It is not the most common dish to find in Hong Kong, yet very easy to make. Some people said Creme Catalanya is just like creme brulee, however, it's quite different as it contains star anise, cloves, cinnamon.

While at Chica Chico, they have put lemon sorbet and fresh mixed berries at the bottom, topped with the smooth runny creme catalanya, with a layer of sugar crust finishing.

I would see Chica Chico a cozy friendly place for any boys and girls to come an dhave a few drinks or a dining experience. Tapas is always a fun way to share with friends when going down a couple of drinks. The small bites are delicate and are sometimes too cute to be eaten. The restaurant uses high quality ingredients, with Chinese cooking methods infused to the recipes. Overall, it was a fun and scrumptious meal that we enjoyed a lot. We can't wait to come back again for more innovative tapas!
