After watching a movie at iSquare yesterday, my girl friend and I decided to try a restaurant in this new mall. We walked around for 20 minutes and finally decided to go to the one with the most customers - Monster Sushi. We heard that this brand name is partly owned by the movie star Daniel Wu but never had the chance to try it before. When we arrived, there was a short line waiting for the tables. However, we didn't have to wait long because this restaurant is surprisingly quite huge. The
* Scallop Sushi: So gigantic and fresh. Really a monster size. Such a value deal for 2 pieces at $28. It's a must have item.
* Salmon Sushi: This is Norway Salmon, which is really fresh and fatty and it's a monster size again. (Please note that the quality of Normon Salmon is much better than Salmon from Japan. Don't think that all fish types from Japan are good. In reality, Japanese local residents don't even like eating raw Salmon because of the "not so competitive" quality. They normally cook it with marinated sauce or make soup.)
* A5 Beef Roll with Toro & Truffle: This is a very special combination. Never saw this item in other Japanese restaurants. The taste is unique and good.
* Squid with Pomelo Sushi: Very fresh and the citrus skin on top of the sushi really adds more refreshing taste to it.
* Seared Tamago with Eel: The egg is NOT PRE-MADE. It's very juicy and tender. It's one of the best tamago I ever had.
In addition to the items above, we ordered various types of sashimi and sushi. They are all pretty good. With the food quality and the value of the meal, I would definitely come back again. I notice that there are two long commuter tables (which can accomodate 12 to 14 people each) in the back of the restaurant so it's a good choice for group gathering as well.
