King's Dim Sum is a new place in Causeway Bay. I walked by it pretty much daily but never really had the chance to try it out. It was one of those all day dim sum places that are so popular in Hong Kong. So, one evening, boyfriend and I decided to try it out.Located right behind Forever 21, they have both outdoor and indoor seating. Menu is in Chinese but they do have an English one upon request.  They also have four teas to choose from. A rarity in these types of dim sum places. They have a $3

King's Dim Sum is a new place in Causeway Bay. I walked by it pretty much daily but never really had the chance to try it out. It was one of those all day dim sum places that are so popular in Hong Kong. So, one evening, boyfriend and I decided to try it out.

Located right behind Forever 21, they have both outdoor and indoor seating. Menu is in Chinese but they do have an English one upon request.  They also have four teas to choose from. A rarity in these types of dim sum places. They have a $3 tea charge. Ordering is i the form of checking off a piece of paper.  There is no 10% service charge and it is cash only.

Fried Dumplings with Pork Meat ($19).  It stated on the menu that all dim sum was made to order. But for something that was made to order, everything came at once and in less than 5 minutes. Also, everything was cold. The dumplings were actually the best thing we had. It was a bit oily but at least the meat tasted savory enough to be enjoyable.

Rice rolls with Char Siu ($24).  The wrapping was way too thick and they didn't really wrap the skin around the char siu. It was was just laid on top of the meat. So, what I got was a thick, starchy wrapping and meat in separate mouthfuls.

Char Siu Bao ($19). The bun was sticky and mushy in texture. The char siu filling was too sweet and covered in sauce. We couldn't finish one.

Siu Mai ($24).  The siu mai was cold and stuck together. It was hard to pry them apart. The meat was dry and tough.

Braised Chicken Feet in Special Bean Sauce ($28).  This was probably the most expensive thing we ordered. The sauce was too salty. Combined with the fact that it was cold, it was just one cold gloop.

Usually, I have low expectations for these all day dim sum places. They are never as good as actual Chinese restaurants but they are usually cheap and convenient. Something to tide you over when you have a craving for dim sum. But this place was really bad. Possibly the worst dim sum I've ever had. Ever. Will not be back.
