Whenever I'm in Japan, I always end up buying a bottle yuzu flavored honey of 杉養蜂園 (English name: Sugi Bee Garden). I love how I can add it to just some ice water or hot water and get a refreshing yuzu drink. It got to a point that on my last trip in April, the sales clerk in Japan told me to sign up for their VIP membership as it was free. This way I get discounts when I purchase in Japan and collect points for gift items.Recently, they have opened a kiosk in the Sogo grocery store. Also, off
Recently, they have opened a kiosk in the Sogo grocery store. Also, offering the same variety of fruit flavored honey, they also offer ginseng and ginger additions. All are available to try. I found that my member card can be used in Hong Kong for discounts as well.
But one new thing they have at this kiosk is honey soft serve ice cream and honey drinks. Personally, I was more interested in the ice cream.
The soft serve is made with honey. You can choose to just have it plain or add a drizzle of the fruit flavored honey that Sugi sells. Each soft serve is $40.
I ordered a cup and chose the blueberry honey to be drizzled one top. The ice cream did melt fast and I was already inside an air conditioned grocery store. This is due to no added stabilizers. The ice cream was soft and creamy. But the best was the honey. Not too sweet but rich with a blueberry taste. This was perfect for ice cream.
Though quite a small cup. I would return again but probably if I run out of my yuzu honey and I won't be back in Japan for a while. Or maybe I'll just be back for ice cream.
